About NWTA

One region. Connected pathways. A stronger future for North Wales.

Finding the right next step in education or training is not always straightforward. There are different routes, different providers and different choices to navigate.

NWTA brings partners together to make those pathways clearer, helping people move from learning into employment, with opportunities rooted here in North Wales.

Introduction

What is the North Wales Tertiary Alliance?

Our Purpose

A strong regional alliance for North Wales

The NWTA was established to respond to long-standing challenges across North Wales, including lower levels of higher education participation, barriers to progression and the need for a workforce aligned to regional priorities.

By working collaboratively rather than competitively, the Alliance is aiming to reshape the learner journey through partnership-led systems change.

This project demonstrates the impact of collective leadership across FE and HE, working alongside employers, public services and civic partners.

It reflects Medr’s vision for a coordinated tertiary system by delivering employer-engaged outreach that inspires learners, clarifies progression routes and supports growth in priority sectors such as health, engineering, advanced manufacturing, construction and green energy.

How we work

A network for educational transformation in North Wales

We work together, not separately, to build something stronger for North Wales, aligning pathways, sharing expertise and creating more opportunities for learners across the region.

By bringing education and industry closer together, we help ensure skills reflect real-world needs. That makes it easier for people to move confidently from learning into employment.

Investing Locally

Equal opportunities for everyone in North Wales

The NWTA will aim to work not just across the education system, but in partnership with industry, businesses, and public sector organisations in Wales and beyond, ensuring the area can respond to the challenges and opportunities of a changing economy.

Together, we are creating a more connected, accessible and future-ready system, one that supports individuals, strengthens communities and drives long-term growth across North Wales.
